A Couple of Interesting Developments
Jay Meyers has started a site with the rather general title of "
Wargame Replays", and it appears to be designed to highlight plays of favorite (Meyer's favorite) board wargames. These appear to be
Great Campaigns of the American Civil War,
Empire of the Sun, and
Twilight Struggle. Meyers plans (in theory) to add more games to the site, most of them having to do with either the American Civil War, the Pacific War of WW2 or even (!) Age of Mythology.
It's a great idea. I love posting replays, I love reading replays. My sole criticism would be that the domain "Wargame Replays" is a very general label for a specfic niche of wargaming in only a couple of eras. What might be a great way to expand the concept would be to create a generic way of inputting pictures (or links to same) and text to one's own replays to be submitted to the site for review by Jay. Then it would become a truly generic WARGAME REPLAY site. That's a service I think we all would like to see.
On another front, I occassionally listen to the
Point2Point podcast. The podcast started out very generally but has really matured. Recent 'casts both gave TriaDCon
a little advance notice and a very complimentary after-action report on the show itself. Thank you very much, Scott and Jason. As a member of the D.C. Con Cabal, I greatly appreciate any help you can give us pimping D.C.'s only local general gaming convention. Perhaps next time we'll have our act together and perhaps send you some convention planning audio snippets you might want to use for filler.
