The GMT P500 Process
I received this in the email today:
Dear GMT Customer, First off, we’re sending this update only to customers who have given us their e-mail address at some point over the past few years – whether via an order, a feedback card, or at a game convention. We dislike Spam as much as anyone and don’t want to send these updates to anyone who doesn’t want them. If you’d prefer not to get our updates, please respond to this e-mail and place the word “Remove” in the header or body, and we’ll take your e-mail address out of our database so we don’t bother you. That said, for everyone else, this update consists of five main items: The list of our newest P500 games – with links to detailed information about each A Note about two deleted EFS games This Fall’s Charge/Ship Schedule for P500 games Checking for New Updates on the “What’s New” Page of the Website Your Updated Personal Status Sheet 1. Of these, I P500'd (pre-ordered) the following: Flying Colors, Pacific Typhoon!, DiF Squadron Pack, and C3I magazine (the next issue).
Why, you ask? Am I Mad???
First of all, I'm getting tired of hearing how great ATLANTIC STORM is from guys like Joe Steadman and Rob Winslow. It didn't appeal to me when it came out (it sounded like a thinly disguised Euro to me) but after hearing Joe yammering away about it on the Dice Tower I'm convinced I'm not one of the cool kids now. So PACIFIC TYPHOON uses the same mechanics, same designer, etc. only it's set in the Pacific. It looks promising.
I've bought just about every Down in Flames series game since Rise of the Luftwaffe (usually in mulitples) so the Squadron pack is a natural.
Finally, FLYING COLORS is set in an era I love (age of fighting sail), using a system I like (WAR GALLEY modified) and it's designed by a buddy of mine, Mike Nagel. It's a natural.
The moral of the story, get off your butts and P500 some things so I can selfishly get the games I want! Do it right now!
