By arrangement with designer Chris Ferree, The (Virtual) Armchair General is calling for playtesters for the soon-to-be-released Waken The Storm, the Official Fantasy Variant of the world-famous The Sword And The Flame.
To the first five interested parties who join the "blind playtesting" team, a copy of the rules in their current test form will be provided in PDF format via email. In return for written comments, corrections, and suggestions submitted by October 17, 2005, playtesters' names will be credited in the final manuscript and a complete copy of the finished product provided gratis upon publication (hopefully by November).
The usual range of Fantasy Miniature types, including (but not limited to) Dark Ages/Medieval warriors of every description, Orcs, Elves, Trolls, Ogres, Dragons, etc., will be necessary to play scenarios of your own design. Photographs of your games may also be used for illustration/promotion, but are not a necessary part of the deal.
Stalwarts, please email TVAG@worldnet.att.net to be among the few - those happy few - who will be able to leave their own mark on the long-awaited advent of this variant to perhaps the most popular game system in the hobby's history. If you feel you have any special "qualifications" for playtesting, please do not hesitate to elucidate.

Man, I am all over this like stank on a pig.
Fantasy is one of those genres I would like to do, but I have little interest in overpriced, overhyped and underdeveloped rules from a certain publisher who has strong ties to its own house miniatures... (coff coff coff).
Fantasy, "done right" would be a blast to play-- the available figures are literally through the roof. Personally, I've always wanted to do a "Sword and the Flame on Barsoom" one of these days, but haven't had the time to pursue it. I think this TSATF conversion might be just what the doctor ordered.
