Revision! Fixed Support Orders!
I had opportunity to consult with the creator of
RealPolitik, the program that adjudicates our Diplomacy game. Jim was quite helpful. He pointed out that one needs to be VERY CLEAR with support orders, as the parser in RP does not always pick up the intent of the order just by clicking on the army that is being supported. In the case of the Balkans, this is important enough to cause a redo of the game turn, as it changes the map situation entirely.
We have the Army of Serbia (Au) attacking Bulgaria (Tu), supported by Fleet Greece (Au) and Fleet Rumania (Ru). The way the turn was entered, the program thought the two fleets were supporting A Serbia *Holding Position*, when it was *Attacking*. This is resolved quite easily, as it turns out, by doing a reload of the turn from Winter 01 (thank God I do backups each turn), and loading the turn text entry file, this time explicitly typing in the "A Serbia - Bulgaria" in the lines for Fleet Greece and Fleet Rumania. Unfortunately for Turkey, this does annihilate the Army in Bulgaria, but that was what I was expecting with a three to one attack, in any case.
The case of Fleet Marseilles supporting Army Paris was, essentially, an illegal move.
A supporting army or fleet must be adjacent to lend support, and Marseilles had most of France in the way.
