TriaDCon is THIS WEEK!!!!
If you want to help out with setting up tables, drop by on Friday night. This is very much a volunteer's convention.
Come visit Washington DC's new local convention! TriaDCon will be held at the South Campus Dining hall of the University of Maryland, 16-17 September, 2006. Gaming all day Saturday (8am-midnight) and most of Sunday (8am-5pm). This is TriaDCon's first year.
More about TriaDCon
Learn new games and play in the Eurogame Decathlon (featuring featuring Spiel des Jahres award winners). Games include Settlers of Catan (1995), El Grande (1996), Mississippi Queen (1997) or Torres (2000), Elfenland (1998) or Villa Paletti (2002), Tikal (1999), Carcassonne (2001), Alhambra (2003), Ticket to Ride (2004), Niagara (2005), and Thurn and Taxis (2006). Rounds begin every two hours on Saturday and every 1.5 hours on Sunday, starting at 9am both days.
Miniatures: 20+ miniatures events, from historica to fantasy to science fiction and beyond. HERE IS THE DAILY SCHEDULE OF MINIATURES GAMES
The Eurogame 2-player Pentathlon runs 7pm to midnight on Saturday.
Games will be Zeus and Hera, Battleline, Balloon Cup, Carcassone: The Castle, and Lord of the Rings: Confrontation. Medals go to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers in the Decathlon and Pentathlon. Plus a gold medal to the leader of the half-decathlon on Saturday and on Sunday.
Wargamers will have the chance to meet Ed Beach, designer for GMT's Here I Stand; Jason Matthews and Ananda Gupta, designers for GMT's Twilight Struggle; Kurt Kuhlmann, designer of Clash of Arms' Epic of the Peloponnesian War; and Jerry Taylor, designer of Columbia Games' Crusader Rex. Pre-register to organize match-ups with other interested players. No wargame tournaments. Only open gaming.
In addition to tournaments and open gaming, there will be a flea market for gaming-related items. Buyers get to inspect items before they buy and know prices up-front. There's no sniping at the last minute and no shipping costs to pay! Sellers bring in games and decide their selling prices. Select a price for Saturday and a lower price for Sunday — to help move items that didn't sell the first day. Pick up your proceeds or unsold games during the day. Placement fee is only 25¢. There is a small additional fee for items that sell.
