Hail, Caesar!
HMGS News...Hey, look! We don't have a CONOPS any more!
I really should go to BOD meetings. Last weekend, in something 4 Board members called "a secret executive session", they voted Fred Haub (our VP of CONOPS) off the Board!
The "executive session" (
btw, where are "executive sessions" covered in the Bylaws? Are these covered by MD Law for NonProfits? Hmmmm) is a session of the BOD where the minutes are not released and we (the membership) dunno what transpired.
The version I heard indicates the named cause for kicking him off the BOD were his work on the ADA issues and how that didn't fit into the HISTORICON Management Team's agenda (
which, btw, I actually disagree with Fred's stance upon-- it was far too narrowly defined) and the fact that Fred apparently gave an election ballot to a member in the military deploying to Iraq and received it back instead of instructing him to send it to our CPA.
This is ballot fraud? Oh, man, am I biting back a statement. About stones and glass houses. No, Nizz... don't go there!
So the gist of it is that the BOD has found "cause for removal" for poor Fred because he didn't vote a certain way or wasn't supporting an agenda, because he gave the ballot to one member. A procedural error is grounds for cause??? There's certainly a lot of BOD members who are fair game to be removed next, based on THAT excuse!!
Fred Haub is a good guy who is honest to a fault. He may or may not hve been a good CONOPS (he did try to make changes, which is something that far too few CONOPS can lay claim to). Fred's quiet. He's not flashy. He can't thump on his chest proudly and claim to be an "honorable warrior".. okay, maybe. But he DID get 214 votes in the last election, which is far more than some of the folks on the executive committee got.
And rumor has it that the those who didn't support the vote were told they had better "shut up or they (the dissenters) would be next".
Does someone have aspirations to be Caesar around here?
