I've hit a new low, and I feel shame...

Mister Nizz

Wow, controversy! It's not exactly what I live for. I'm usually the shy retiring type.

Sometimes what you take for an innocent goof develops a mind of its own. Alas, my previous post, called "I've Hit a New Low", really rubbed people the wrong way, and it did blow up in my face.

Due to the overwrought reaction of certain people on certain discussion groups, I've decided to retire the post "I've hit a new low". sorry, kids, but I was getting some real hate mail-- vehement to the point of total bafflement by yours truly.

One fellow really seems to want to come to verbal blows with me and has objections to me quoting his running derogatory comments about me here. He's got a point. I'll delete the personal jibes, as I derive no pleasure in hurting his feelings. You can find them easily enough, if you look.

For the record, I care not a fig what a gang of sanctimonious jerks think of my actions, whether those actions be real or fake, nor do I particularly fear the opprobrium of a tribe of socially maladroit gaming geeks who delight in pig-pile, playground behavior.

They have no concept of my background, family life, children (2), volunteer activities (considerable-- Boy Scouts, Reading tutor, Church Youth Group leader and soccer coach, thang kew very much) and charity work (also considerable-- Catholic Charities, Burke Cares being two of the biggies, not that I feel the need to justify myself). Oh, dear, I justified myself.

I just don't have the time to get sucked into the black hole of bickering around one of those kind of posts-- however, since I started it, I had better finish it. I have too much to do in the next couple of weeks.

So, I'm sincerely sorry if I offended anyone and happy holidays.

PS: Try to keep in mind the item in question was a 4.99 piece of plastic, made in China by convicts. Really.

PPS: Thank you SaneMax, OFM (I shall never chide you about long-windedness again!) and others for trying to keep a sense of perspective and decorum about this one.

Ciao!
