I received one of those emails we all loathe recently.. you know the type; it's either jingoistic claptrap (about how great our wonderful nation is) or pablum masquerading as a story with a message, or poorly retold urban legend with a "lesson"... the common factor being the last line, which is always PASS THIS ALONG TO AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE. Usually I shitcan this kind of email promptly, but I hadn't had the opportunity to read it before somebody else on the originator's CC: list responded in kind, which I found pretty funny.

The Original (somewhat politically incorrect) junk mail:

Illegal Immigrants Poem

I cross ocean,
poor and broke,
Take bus,
see employment folk.

Nice man treat me
good in there,
Say I need to
see welfare.

Welfare say,
"You come no more,
We send cash
right to your door."

Welfare checks,
they make you wealthy,
! Medicaid it keep
you healthy!

By and by, !
I got plenty money,
Thanks to you,
American dummy.

Write to friends
in motherland,
Tell them 'come
fast as you can.'

They come in turbans
and Ford trucks,
I buy big house
with welfare bucks

They come here,

That stupid poem, it sure be racist.
Is we turning into Fascists?
Illegals they get minimal goodies,
But even that gives some folks woodies.

Illegals work damned hard and long.
How exactly is that wrong?
They pay their taxes, don't get 'em back.
So why the ad hominem attack?

I'm more concerned that corporate whores
Steal pensions on their way out the doors.
The powers that be say this is legal.
Let's jump instead on those illegals!

But it's WE who look for new recruits
To wash our cars and pick our fruit.
We can't get American kids to do it:
Ask 'em and they'll tell you "Screw it!"

So what if illegals think this is Heaven?
Who else will man our 7-11's?


Now, the first was sent to me (or more appropriately, forwarded along to me) by a guy who I like and respect, but my mind boggled when I read that... it's one step above "little black sambo" references, only now we're villifying illegal aliens. The second guy's response was a sufficiently eloquent response, especially since he created it upon the spot.
